Concrete Core Drilling Supplies for DIY Driveway Repair

Having a concrete driveway with issues such as cracks or severe water damage usually means calling a contractor for assistance. In some cases, you may decide to take care of the repair yourself. If this is the case, and you are using a core drill for parts of the repair, you may want to consider the following supplies to make your repair easier. Keep in mind, these are only a few of the supplies to consider.

Core Drill Bits

You may think you will only need a few drill bits for your core drill. The truth is, you never know what you will run into during a repair. You may think that you have only one layer of concrete, or that a specific type of concrete was used, only to find that you are wrong. If the driveway is older, you may have several layers of concrete, different types used for different repairs, and different grades of concrete. If this is the case, you will need to have the appropriate drill bits. With that in mind, consider purchasing a core drill bit set that offers a variety of sizes and usage options.

Proper Core Drilling Machine

This may seem like common knowledge, but the truth is, when you walk into the home improvement store, you will likely only see a few types of core drilling machines. You may only see larger models or models for rent that will work for your needs but are difficult to maintain if you are not used to them. If the job is small, you may want to consider a hand held core drilling machine over a stationary machine. If the job is larger, a portable machine would be ideal. Make sure that you are considering all the options your local retailer has to offer and ask before settling on the floor model or the models that are placed out on display. Those are likely not your only options.

Concrete Cutting Saws and Tables

If you are using decorative concrete to border your driveway, you may find yourself replacing bits and pieces of the decorative concrete. If this is the case, you may find that you need to cut the concrete to fit the driveway once it is repaired. You can have a contractor do this for you, but you can also rent a concrete cutting saw or cutting table in order to get the job all done during the same time you are doing your concrete driveway repair project.

These are just three things to consider as supplies for your driveway repair. These items may change or increase greatly depending on the severity of the repair. Remember to keep a contractor in mind in case you get into a situation with a deeper issue that you first suspected, or if you need extra assistance on the job.
